I was not able to find who Henry Soper bought property from as he bought and sold many properties prior to 1824.  Unable to tell which property was this one. (RD)

However on page 192 of ‘The Early History of Bristol by Harvey Munsill’, written in early part of the nineteenth century, it references Amos Eastman where ….he removed to North St. and built the house, or a part thereof, where Elephet and Wm b. Johnson now live…..  Johnson’s name is on 1857 map and he moved to Ohio in 1861.

According to Harvey Munsill Amos Eastman built this house before he moved to New York for a few years, then moved back to Bristol for a few more years, then to Lincoln where his wife died in 1820.

I think this house had to have been built around 1810.

Town Records

May 4, 1839 – Book 9 – Page 487 – Solomon Drake sells parcel of land to William Peet.
(Approx. 8 rods + 20ft. (152 Ft.) of frontage on North St.)
Also just land, no buildings, were mentioned in deed.

May 30, 1861 – Book 14 – Page 125 –William Peet sells to Joseph and Judith Kitchell

January 11, 1866 – Book 14 – Page 705 – Joseph Kitchell sells to Erastus Stewart

March 13, 1901 – Book 21 – Page 420 – Ernest C. Kilbourn sells to Arthur B. Kilbourn.
Note – This was part of Barlow Estate.

September 3, 1959 – Book 36 – Page 288 – Quit Claim deed to Francis & Julia Kilbourn
Also there was a recording From July 26, 1977 in Book 47 Page 61 where George                              Kilbourn also transferred a deed to Francis & Julia Kilbourn.

August 4, 1983 – Book 55 – Page 68-69 - Sold to Mike & Martha Chesley.

It appears the house would have been built around 1839.

So September 15th 2021 the house will been part of the Barlow/Kilbourn family for 150 years!

John Kilbourn to Ed & Marion Burke

Pook 26  P. 67   March 28, 1919
Silas & Anne Goff to John & Margrite Kilbourn

Prior to Silas Goff owning house and land it was owned by Issac Stowell Jr. after
Issac Stowel Sr. died in 1873.

1857 map and 1871 map show Issac Stowell Sr. owning this property.

I did not find if anyone owned property between Issac Stowell Sr. and Datus Gaige.

Book 36 deed to Ed & Marion Burke references April 6, 1838 deed and survey in
            Book 9 Page 413.

The Book 9 Page 413 April 6, 1838 deed conveys property (no buildings just property)
from Benjamin Allen to Datus Gaige.

I would place date of buildings to c. 1839

The house was in the Kilbourn Family (John and Margurite Kilbourn and their daughter Marion Kilbourn Burke) for 91 years.

6 South St. Martha Parker House

July 21, 1958 – Book 36 Page 103-104 - Town of Bristol inherited property from Martha Parker Estate.

January 6, 1933 – Book 28 Page 430 – Martha and Julia Parker (cousins of Kate Stewart) obtain property from Kate Stewart estate.

Kate Stewart was the daughter of Richard and Martha Stewart. Kate inherited the property after her mother died in 1924.

The 1900 census shows Martha Stewart running a boarding house at this location

The 1871 Beers Atlas map shows the property belonging to R.D. Stewart.

It appears Richard Stewart purchased the property from Alvin Stewart in the later 1860s.

The 1857 Addison County Map show William Munson as owner.

The Records for William Munson properties did not give a description of             properties.

There were so many estate recordings in Bristol Town Records that did not reference previous records that it was hard to track property records back prior to Richard Stewart but there was one link that helped.

September, 8, 1848 – Book 12 Page 568 – Property was transferred to Mary Bradley.

Mary Bradley was wife of Joseph Bradley.  According to Page 225 of the “The Early History of Bristol Vt.” by Harvey Munsill Joseph Bradley lived in New Haven … “until 1840 when he made purchase of a House and lot in Bristol Village of William Dunshee the place now owned and occupied by Alvin Stewart”. (Note this would have been recorded about 1867 when Munsill Papers were written. RD)

William Dunshee was born in 1793 and was married in Bristol in 1815.  In 1815 he would have been about 22 yrs. old.

This would possibly date house at 6 South St. to c. 1815 to 1820.
